Thanks @ms_magazine for uplifting some of the important takeaways from my recent conversation about "Women’s Rights in Post-Roe America" at Woodstock Bookfest with these three incredible and knowledgeable women: Jessica Valenti, Clara Bingham, and Jamia Wilson.

They provide vital insights on the current state of reproductive rights, legislative trends to be aware of, the stakes of this moment, actions we can take, and much more. Link in bio.

In my latest @ForbesWomen piece, I interview three pro-democracy leaders – LaTosha Brown, cofounder of Black Voters Matter, Monica Riley, executive director of The Alabama Alliance, and Pamela Shifman, president of Democracy Alliance – who gathered in Selma, Alabama, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday and, as Shifman put it, “to reground in the courage and the boldness of racial justice and civil rights movement leaders, past and present.”

In the interview, they share insights on what we can learn from history and the importance of women uniting in this moment to protect our rights and freedoms.

Swipe through for some of their powerful quotes, and read the interview at link in bio.

I was honored to moderate the "Women’s Rights in Post-Roe America" panel at the Woodstock Bookfest on April 5 where I was joined by three brilliant, award-winning writers: Jessica Valenti, Clara Bingham, and Jamia Wilson.

We discussed the rights and freedoms that are under attack, uplifted stories and information often left out of mainstream media, and looked at ways we can take action to protect our rights in this critical moment.

You can watch the full panel discussion at this link (also in bio): https://youtu.be/weLqw_pLbaI

Many thanks to @Martha.Frankel and @woodstockbookfest for making this happen and to @jessicavalenti, @jamiaawilson, and @clarabinghamauthor for sharing your important and powerful insights!

To begin Season 5 of my podcast, I wanted to create an episode that could offer real, soul-nourishing encouragement for the challenging times we’re living in, as well as for coping with whatever personal struggles we may be dealing with, past or present. I drew from years of interviews with wise women who have inspired me deeply, and in this episode they share powerful insights on how we can foster strength and resilience. I hope their words resonate with you as much as they did with me.

This episode is available in video form on Spotify and on my YouTube channel.

With insights from: @StaceyAbrams, @DrMayaAngelou, @CoriBush, Brittany Packnett Cunningham (@mspackyetti), @SallyField, @JaneFonda, @JoanHalifax, #AnitaHill, Arianna Huffington (@ariannahuff), Luvvie Ajayi Jones (@luvvie), Elizabeth Lesser (@elizlesser), Wangari Maathai, @AmyPoehler, @GloriaSteinem, V (formerly @EveEnsler), and Oprah Winfrey (@oprah).

Listen or watch at link in bio.

In my latest @ForbesWomen piece, I interview Melinda French Gates about her new memoir "The Next Day" – out today – in which she shares previously untold personal stories and wisdom she’s gained through life’s transitions. We also discuss her $1 billion pledge to advance women and girls, the strengths that women bring, how we can all make a positive impact on the world, and more.

She told me, “We can use our voice and our money to try and move society forward in the way that we think is right.”

After his history-breaking speech yesterday, it seems like a fitting time to flashback to this moment I shared with Sen. Cory Booker in which he filmed this inspiring video message for my daughters, and all young people, still timely today.. Thank you @corybooker for always standing up for love and justice.

“Get politically active. Don’t say that your voice doesn’t count.” — Barbara Lee

In my latest piece at @ms_magazine, I interview former longtime Congresswoman Barbara Lee (@repbarbaralee). She served as a U.S. House Rep. for 27 years and is currently running for Mayor of Oakland. If elected, she would make history as the first Black woman mayor of Oakland.

In our conversation, Lee shares her take on what has been transpiring in Congress and the country since Trump took office, what lessons can we learn from history that can give us perspective or inspiration right now, what wisdom she imagines her mentor Shirley Chisholm would offer in this moment, her call to action and more.

She told me, “There’s a lot of work to be done. Just because of Donald Trump and what he has perpetrated on this country, don’t think that you can’t do anything. You can make life better for so many people who are marginalized and who are being attacked.” (more quotes in slideshow)
